Addis Ababa<\/strong> – Ethiopia\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Egypt of actively campaigning to destabilize the Horn of Africa, issuing a strongly worded statement that labeled Cairo a persistent troublemaker instead of choosing avenues for peaceful engagement.<\/p>

In its latest communiqu\u00e9, the ministry said Egypt continues to invoke colonial-era treaties to assert what it calls \u201chistorical rights\u201d over the Nile, claims Addis Ababa disputes. According to the statement, Egypt\u2019s long-standing attempts to fuel tensions around the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) have become \u201cmore evident than ever,\u201d citing Cairo\u2019s repeated rejection of dialogue over the Nile, to which Ethiopia contributes an estimated 86 percent of the water flow.<\/p>

The ministry further denounced what it described as Egypt\u2019s \u201cirresponsible\u201d strategy toward Ethiopia. It added that cooperation and a commitment to shared development would better serve both countries and provide a constructive path forward.<\/p>
