Addis Ababa — Forces aligned with Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan carried out airstrikes near the Ethiopia–Sudan border, targeting Rapid Support Forces (RSF) military vehicles and logistics, according to eyewitness accounts.
The airstrikes reportedly took place in Yabus locality, Blue Nile State, in southeastern Sudan. Eyewitnesses told Horn Frequency that large quantities of military logistics, including armored vehicles and containers allegedly carrying weapons and other military equipment, were being transported from Ethiopia into Sudan through Assosa, the capital of Ethiopia’s Benishangul Gumuz region.
According to the witnesses, various types of artillery and newly manufactured military vehicles have recently crossed into Sudan via the same route. They said the equipment was not of Ethiopian origin and alleged it may have come from the United Arab Emirates, though this could not be independently verified.
Witnesses further claimed that while the most recent airstrikes occurred inside Sudanese territory, similar attacks could potentially extend into Ethiopia, citing what they described as a military camp allegedly established by the UAE in Benishangul-Gumuz. Yabus is located approximately 50 kilometers from Assosa.
It is worth noting that, multiple reports have disclosed that the UAE has opened a military facility in Ethiopia’s Benishangul-Gumuz region, purportedly to support the RSF. Ethiopian and Emirati authorities have not publicly commented on these claims.
There were conflicting accounts regarding responsibility for the airstrikes. While witnesses and local sources attributed the attacks to forces aligned with Sudanese Armed Forces leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, others speculated that the strikes may have been carried out by Saudi Arabia, a claim that could not be independently verified
